Standardized data: The OQ®-45.2 is a standardized instrument with empirical support. It is based on normative data. Content that assesses functional level and change over time: The OQ®-45.2 measures functioning in 3 domains: Symptom distress (heavily loaded for depression and anxiety), Interpersonal functioning, and Social Role. It enables the clinician to assess functional level and change over time.

Description
An international team of physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, epidemiologists and psychologists has developed an observational pain assessment scale for people with cognitive impairments, especially dementia: The Pain Assessment in Impaired Cognition (PAIC 15) scale. This initiative was funded by the EU COST program (COST Action TD 1005). The PAIC 15 scale contains a total of 15 behavioral descriptors, with 5 behavioral descriptors for each behavioral category of facial expressions, body movements and vocalizations. The facial expression category includes items such as “frowning” and “narrowing the eyes”. Examples for pain-indicative body movements are “restlessness” and “guarding”. “Groaning” and “shouting” are examples from the vocalization category. For each of these behavioral descriptors a brief explanation is given to better illustrate the exact meaning of each descriptor.

Description
PSQ is composed of 17 carefully suggested daily life statuses, asking the individuals to rate their pain on a numeric rating scale ranging from 0 (not painful at all) to 10 (worst pain imaginable). Three of the items normally described as painless situations and are discarded from the score; the rest 14 situations are judged to be painful which represent PSQ-total and is considered as the primary score. The two other secondary scores refer to PSQ-moderate which represents seven items on their average rated to be moderately painful (mean rating 4-6 of the rating scale), and PSQ-minor which represents the other seven items which cause minor pain on their average rating (mean rating < 4)
