Validation of the Career Adapt-Abilities Scale in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

Article type: Published article

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of an Arabic version of the Career Adapt-Abilities Scale (CAAS) using a Jordanian sample. The sample included 233 Jordanian citizens with Arabic as their native language. The final model revealed a moderate fit (root mean square error of approximation =.072) and was within the ranges of all previously reported fit indexes. The results indicated that the internal consistency estimates for the 4 scales of concern, control, curiosity, and confidence ranged from,.737 to.867. Positive correlations were found between the number of reported jobs held by participants and the scales of concern, control, and curiosity. In addition, the reported global job satisfaction was positively correlated with the concern, control, and confidence scales. The findings of this study revealed that the validity and internal consistency of the career adapt-abilities model were replicated in the Jordanian context.
