Description
First created and validated in the 1990s to measure and assess diabetes related burden in adults with diabetes. A brief self-report scale that evaluates diabetes-related emotional distress. PAID is a self-administered 20-item scale. Each item is scored from 0 (not a problem) to 4 (serious problem). The sum of all item scores multiplied by 1.25 gives the total PAID score, which ranges from 0 to 100, higher scores reflecting greater emotional distress. A score of 40 or above is indicative of severe emotional distress (Hermanns et al,2006)

Description

FACT-BMT is a combination of two tools; functional assessment of cancer therapy-general (FACT-G) which assesses the effects of cancer therapy in the four major areas of physical, social/family, emotional and functional well-being and the BMTS assesses specific BMT related concerns .

Description
The KDQOL-SFTM version 1.3 combines the generic SF36 instrument with the kidney disease specific instrument. The questionnaire consists of 80 items divided into 19 dimensions. The disease specific component of KDQOL-SFTM 1.3 includes 43 kidney disease targeted items. They comprise 11 domains, including: symptom/ problem list (12 items), effects of kidney disease (8 items), burden of kidney disease (4 items), cognitive function (3 items), quality of social interaction (3 items), sexual function (2 items), sleep (4 items), social support (2 items), work status (2 items), patient satisfaction (1 item), and dialysis staff encouragement (2 items). Description
The NEI-VFQ is a broad, vision-targeted questionnaire used in the assessment of visual impairment. It has initially been developed by the National Eye Institute in order to match the need for a new tool to assess the extent of visual impairment in patients with various chronic eye conditions of moderate to high severity. The SCS scale includes two subscales, namely, religious and nonreligious coping strategies. The religious coping strategies subscale assesses the individual’s attitudes toward religion and belief in God, which can lend credence to finding meaning and purpose in life. The nonreligious coping strategies measure the humanistic coping strategies. These strategies enable individuals to connect with their inner selves, acknowledge their strengths, find peace despite adversity, and achieve social support, which can provide the ability to go beyond oneself through self-transcendence (Baldacchino & Buhagiar, 2003).
